I just read in someone's comment section about going to a kid's birthday and giving 1) something from the dollar store 2) $1-$3 for the kid to buy something or 3) nothing. From someone presumably well off but frugal. Also about going to a wedding and not bringing a gift because "the gift of your time spent to celebrate the couple" was the real investment. Sure, I GET It. But...sometimes spending money in keeping with social norms is the glue that holds us together. But still.nicoleandmaggiehttp://nicoleandmaggie.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9219236556397495909.post-8338893894978665272015-10-12T09:21:44.562-04:002015-10-12T09:21:44.562-04:00"I'm so glad I live in a world where ther..."I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers"---Anne ShirleyAnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00006807775816627217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9219236556397495909.post-28277177521846113962015-10-12T09:20:51.204-04:002015-10-12T09:20:51.204-04:00meh. its now reverted back to its natural state of...meh. its now reverted back to its natural state of random waves & frizz. my hair. the bane of my existence since day 1 (well, not really, apparently I was a bald baby)Anahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00006807775816627217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9219236556397495909.post-68157766199718384772015-10-12T09:19:49.120-04:002015-10-12T09:19:49.120-04:00oh for sure, TJs meals are the quickest! And I'...oh for sure, TJs meals are the quickest! And I'm a huge fan of cheese & cracker meals. We plan our take out to save us time on days we want to do other stuff. So we can stay longer at the park, but order the pizza to pick up on the way home (and we've got our go-tos for each pizza place, so no decision making) or call in to have something delivered while we go do something else. If you decide last minute when you're already hungry, ordering take out sucks, since you have to make choices and then wait for it to come! Next week should be my last big travel week and then I'll be able to hunker down and get to work.

I dunno, it actually does sometimes take longer for us to get take-out than to "cook" at home because the only place that delivers is the pizza place, so we have to drive to pick-up (at least we did when DC2 was allergic to wheat), which takes longer than making, say, a microwave quesadilla (with salsa!). Even when we can eat wheat, when I'm hungry I am incapable of making decisions which means it takes hours for me to figure out what pizza to get or if we even want pizza. It is sometimes faster to have a dinner of cheese and crackers or a banana. If cheese and crackers are not available and there are no bananas and there's no leftovers from previous nights and there's nothing frozen that can be heated up (as in no TJ's meals)... then it's probably a wash time-wise.nicoleandmaggiehttp://nicoleandmaggie.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9219236556397495909.post-6419942640889105042015-10-09T20:23:00.505-04:002015-10-09T20:23:00.505-04:00I always eat later when I get takeout. That does ...I always eat later when I get takeout. That does not mean it takes less time!

And I remember the transition to kindergarten involving so much regression! They told us to even expect bathroom accidents, which I found hard to believe, but it happened. Luckily, so far, the transition for first grade has been very smooth.Deborahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07335915683875653154noreply@blogger.com
