Neither of my kids were traumatic at all. We did early potty training and had fun with it. Trauma has a lot to do with starting at a defiant time rather than during a chill cycle. Brazelton's signs of readiness hit at the same time as the terrible 2s/3s.

But boys tend to still have semi regular accidents even into 1st grade. Not just mine, but among the kids at school.Nicoleandmaggiehttp://nicoleandmaggie.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9219236556397495909.post-85778747916979941422016-09-16T07:33:41.588-04:002016-09-16T07:33:41.588-04:00The first step in that situation is diaper free ba...The first step in that situation is diaper free bare bottom time. I still remember the look on dc1's face the first time he peed in the shower. Like, what is happening? I think it's probably more birth order & personality. Or maybe it's because (as someone with two boys told me) my older girl just has the "energy" of a boy (excitable, intense and not interested in sitting still). My 2nd on the other hand, already seems to have established herself as the "calm one" to her older sisters "chaos merchant". No mean feat for a 2year old!Zenmoonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9219236556397495909.post-14988616101384275152016-09-16T05:42:30.365-04:002016-09-16T05:42:30.365-04:00How timely. I sense a LONG road ahead, he seems to have no awareness whatsoever about urination. I don't normally make statements about gender differences, but in terms of all things potty related, girls are so much easier.

https://nicoleandmaggie.wordpress.com/2012/03/28/night-training/nicoleandmaggiehttp://nicoleandmaggie.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9219236556397495909.post-22311820255075619122016-09-15T19:25:43.852-04:002016-09-15T19:25:43.852-04:00We're having that same night-wetting issue. You can find them in the adult incontinence section (or pet or potty training). Makes bed changing much faster since you don't have to strip the bottom. Use a couple and get the kind with stickies on the bottom. Nicoleandmaggiehttp://nicoleandmaggie.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
